Classification and Compensation Plan
The Classification and Pay Division is
responsible for administering the City's classification and compensation plan in
accordance with State law and City Charter. The plan provides a listing of
the City's class specifications and its assigned salary
range.
Class specifications describe a broad range of duties and
responsibilities that are sufficiently similar in terms of work performed and
level of responsibility. Specific requirements for employment (minimum
qualification requirements) are also defined. Class specifications are
broadly written, and are intended to cover many positions throughout the
City.
Salary range determinations are based on an evaluation of duties,
responsibilities and level of work assigned, and in accordance with the State's
"equal pay for equal work" mandate.
You may access the City's
classification and compensation plan by using the search functions to the
left. Files are converted from word processing format so original
format is not always retained.
Salary rates shown in the compensation plan and in the grid to left,
are base pay rates and do not include pay differentials
(e.g., recruitment incentives) that may be authorized for the class or
selected positions.
